HyVee Grocery Trip

We headed out bright and early this morning to get groceries before it got too unbearably hot.
I enjoy going to the store with my little buddy.
It's so much nicer now that he can sit in the cart.
And here's the whole shebang.
I went in without a good grocery list. Gasp.
And my coupon book is looking mighty pitiful. :(
But I love buying whole foods!
If we don't buy the cookies and processed foods it won't be in the house to eat.
Ok, so we buy it sometimes.
(Like the Gatorade in the back of this picture. It's for my hubby.)
And did you notice the PURPLE CAULIFLOWER?
Couldn't pass that up. Wonder how they make it purple.

Their health food market was having a 10% off everything sale.
So, between that and using 4 coupons- yes- only 4!-
I saved about $11.
Unfortunately HyVee doesn't add what you save in shopping sales items to their receipts. They totally should! I know I saved more shopping sales, but it'd be nice if they listed it on their receipts like Price Chopper.
I spent an average of $1.53 per item.

So, $1.53 for:
~each bag of peanuts, pistachios, slivered almonds and cashews
~32 oz. organic yogurt
~half gallon almond milk
~half gallon coconut milk
~3 lbs organic apples
~2 lbs strawberries
~organic puffed rice
~organic romaine lettuce
~each bottle of gatorade
*the last one is the one I don't consider such a great deal. But taking the average makes my other purchases seem awesome.

And this is the best thing I got at the store!
A sweet little baby boy.
My goodness he doesn't look like my little baby anymore!
How can that be?
He's not even one yet!

Child Proofing the Craft Room

My son is almost one and is walking all over the place. He's also interested in getting into everything.

To keep him safe while he's in my craft area I keep my iron unplugged and the cord on the ironing board. I also don't iron when he is around. He crawls around under my feet a lot.
Today he showed Mommy that he can reach the power button! Really?! It lights up, and we all know babies love buttons that light up. It's never too early to start teaching boundaries and off limits.

Birthday Projects

I'm busy working on my son's birthday presents this month! I cannot believe he is almost one! So with trying to get his presents done on time I won't be on my Etsy or blog very much. I'm so very excited for his birthday and know he will love what I'm making him. I'm making him a rag quilt to use outside, fabric blocks with the alphabet appliqued on them and an owie owl for the freezer when he has bumps and boo boos. I'll post pictures soon!

Happy almost birthday buddy!

Peaches & Potted Plants

We have a peach tree in our backyard!

And a various assortment of potted plants.

It is VERY hard to grow potted plants from seeds.
(At least it is for me)

 Basil

At least I remember to water them... most days.

 Parsley

Mint, green pepper, lettuce and chives

 Mint

 Here are the gorgeous peaches!

Unfortunately our dogs love the peaches too!

Can you see the string in this picture?
The branch is so heavy my husband had to tie it up.

 Not much of a tree!
I'm surprised it had any fruit on it...
... and that it hasn't fallen down.

Beautiful peaches
(and Ruger again!)

But! Unfortunately the bugs loved my peaches too. There were too many bug holes and even a worm in one of the peaches... so I only have one little peach to eat. (I didn't want to risk eating the other ones.) I'm totally heart broken b/c how many people have a peach tree in their backyard? At least here in Missouri)
