Baby On The Way!

      My husband and I are expecting our very first little one!! After three years of marriage we decided it was time that little feet pitter patter around our house. (And not the pitter patter of our dog's paws!) Oh, what a sweet blessing this little baby will be!

      This Christmas was filled with lots of fun of telling our families that I was pregnant. Everyone was so surprised- we didn't even tell them we were trying! We got a sonogram  image at 6 weeks and we made copies to put into picture frames for our parents and grandparents. (And they thought they were getting family Christmas photos!) We also bought super cute grandparent onesies.

6 weeks 1 Day

     I am so excited to be a mother! God put this desire in me and I can't wait to raise this little one to love God too! He is so amazing! Seriously, A life was created inside of me and I get the honor to keep him or her growing strong!

     Today I'm currently 9 weeks and 5 days. I think I'm doing amazingly well compared to other women I've talked to about being pregnant. I've felt like I've had a constant upset stomach but haven't gotten sick at all! Not too tired, or sore, and no headaches! No real cravings yet, but smells of certain foods bother me. Can't open the fridge b/c then I get a million different smells! 

 This is how I told my coworkers! They are all soo excited!

 "What?? You're pregnant Sweetie?!?"

 "This means I'm going to be a Dad?!?"

     Before we know it!! :D

     I love my husband! He's going to be such a great Dad. He is so much fun and it will be so sweet seeing him love our little baby boy or girl! (10 weeks until we find out!!)

Autumn Bulletin Board

I cannot believe it's December!! Where has the year gone? (I think I say that every year!) And with the thought of December and snow, it's time to say goodbye to my Autumn bulletin board. Just thought I'd share it with you before I tear it down.

If you look at the horizon closely you can see little kids and animals that I painted.

 The small white sign says: Help us find Wilson the Worm.

Kids love looking for Wilson on the board.

He's on every board I make.

I painted the tree with tempera paint, and used little pieces of magainzine for the red leaves.

 I use these Trick-or-Treaters every year.

For the stained glass windows I used different color paint and a flat brush and dobbed it onto paper. Then cut the paper into the shapes of the windows.

And so, The Great Destruction will happen next week probably.

I'll save some of the stuff for next year.

But most of it won't be saved.

Sometimes that's just how it is.

However, some of my murals have gone to local teachers and libraries.

I'll post pics of more boards someday.

I love my job!!

On my day off....

I had a wonderful day off of work today. Woke up before 7, vacuumed, cleaned dishes, did laundry... you know, all that fun stuff you have to do to keep your house clean. But don't worry, I didn't do chores all day. In fact, I baked bread, made some soup, did some crafts and enjoyed the beautiful Autumn sunshine. And luckily my camera was behaving(it's been sucking down battery life) and I was able to take some pictures. Yay!

Craft Booth This Saturday!

I'll be at St. Peter United Methodist Church on South 7 Hwy in Blue Springs this Saturday, October 22 for their Harvest Festival. I'll have a booth set up from 10-3 with all of my crafts for sale. Hope you can stop by and see me! Here are some crafts I'll have there!

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

     This might not seem like the type of book I'd usually read, but it was actually really good!
     I have to admit, I’ve done my fair share of judging books by their covers. My most recent case is a book titled Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. The title, a girl levitating on the cover, and the interesting photographs strewn throughout the book suggest a magical and haunting story being told within its pages. I typically go for the heartwarming, historical  Christian romances, but something about this book had me intrigued. I was going to venture out of my usual genre; I was going to read this disturbing looking book. And what a surprisingly great read it was!
     The story starts with a young boy, Jacob, hearing stories from his grandfather of when he lived at Miss Peregrine’s home during World War II. Even though Jacob sees his grandfather’s photos, he still doesn’t believe what he hears. He doesn’t believe in the girl that could levitate or the invisible boy. Yet with his grandfather’s sudden death and the appearance of a letter, Jacob now wonders if there is truth behind the stories and pictures.
He visits the small island where the peculiar children lived, but is disappointed to find the home vacant and run down. But is it really? What if Miss Peregrine and the children actually still lived there?
     Follow Jacob as he’s taken hostage by one of the children, chased down by the townspeople, and haunted by monsters. (Don’t worry. It’s not that scary, especially if I enjoyed the book.) This is a wonderfully intricate story with many great twists and turns woven throughout.
     I’m looking forward to a sequel, which I hope is in the works because of the cliff hanger at the end. A movie is also in development so be sure to check out a copy of the book if you like to read it first.
     I hope that you can also venture away from your favorite genre, and discover a good book in the process.

New Quilt in Progress!

I'm working on a new quilt and it's all I've wanted to do lately. Thought I'd take a moment and show you some photos of the work in progress!! It's made from all my scrap fabric.
